From Decom to V-Com
For many years now, London Decompression has been an annual bright spot in the gloomy British winter; an event for up to 2000 participants and fuelled by creativity, music, and costumes, hosted at a variety of London venues, most recently the Coronet and Fire.
Decompression events started off as a way for Burning Man participants to meet up in the months after the big event and rekindle some of that burner magic. Over time many more sprung up across the world, with London Decompression being one of the biggest and best (even if we do say so ourselves!)
Decompressions have become as important as both Burning Man and the many regional events that now exist, and are very much burn events in their own right, with huge amounts of work going into them and participants travelling from far and wide to attend. Then 2020 happened.
As hope faded that large scale indoor events would happen again any time soon, London Decom, like so many other festivals and burns, had to be cancelled. But burners are imaginative and will find a way to meet and celebrate their culture if they can…
